The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of South
Carolina invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in
the field of experimental intermediate nuclear physics to begin in Fall
2011. Our group presently consists of five experimentalists, three
postdoctoral research associates and nine graduate students. We are
leading a strong research program on baryon spectroscopy,
hyperon-nucleon interaction, in-medium modifications of hadron
properties, and the transition from meson-baryon to constituent quark
degrees of freedom in exclusive reactions. The successful candidate
will be expected to participate in our ongoing projects: the analysis
and publication of existing Hall-B data and the development and
construction of the Time-of-Flight detector for CLAS12, to contribute
to our 12-GeV research at Jefferson Lab, and to develop her/his own
ideas for new experiments. The postdoctoral associate will also be
expected to supervise both graduate and undergraduate students. The
appointment will be initially for one year and is renewable based on
mutual agreement and continued funding.
<br>
Applicants should have a PhD in experimental nuclear or particle
physics and experience with calibration and analysis of data.
Experience with JLab analysis and detector hardware is a plus. Review
of applications will begin on 1 August 2011 and will continue until the
position is filled.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research
experience and interests, a list of publications, and arrange for three
letters of reference to be sent to:
