excellence in teaching and will be expected to establish an
independent research program. While the search is broadly
defined, current activities in the department and at the
Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) are focused in
three of the four major research areas of nuclear physics:
fundamental symmetries and neutrinos, nuclear
structure/astrophysics, and hadronic physics. TUNL, a DOE
Center of Excellence, supports both on-site facilities that
include an ultracold neutron source, a high energy gamma source,
and low energy accelerator facilities, as well as major programs
operating at off-site facilities. We plan to hire at the
assistant professor level, but will also consider particularly
qualified senior applicants. Minimum qualifications include an
earned Ph.D. degree in physics or a physics-related area. To
receive full consideration, applications for the Fall 2013
academic year should be received by</span><span
