To All:

We are seeking up to three Research Associates in the CSSM, funded through the ARC Australian Laureate Fellowship awarded to
Professor Anthony Thomas. These positions will be of interest to theorists working in subatomic and strong interaction physics.
The current activities are focused on nonperturbative QCD and include lattice gauge theory, chiral effective field theory
and nonperturbative methods in quantum field theory. This is complemented by studies of the spin structure of the nucleon,
quark models and the EoS of matter under extremes of density and temperature especially in relation to neutron stars,
and phenomenological work using weak and electromagnetic probes to both investigate strongly-interacting systems
and to search for new physics. We seek candidates who have demonstrated knowledge and expertise in any of these areas.

You should have:

• PhD or equivalent degree (or thesis submitted) in theoretical physics.

• A commitment to research excellence in theoretical physics, particularly in the area of hadronic and nuclear structure.
• Demonstrated publication track record in leading scientific journals and conferences.

• Advanced analytical and computational skills, including demonstrated ability to perform numerical calculations.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in addition to working effectively as a member of a research team.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

(Level A) $74,001 - $79,435 per annum. Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies.

These three, fixed-term positions are available for a period of two years (with a possible extension for a third year subject to funding)
and may be filled at a mutually satisfactory date from now and October 2013.
