<br>
<br>
DATE POSTED: JANUARY 16, 2013
<br>
<br>
SALARY RANGE: $48,600 - $73,200 (PD)
<br>
<br>
DUTIES:
<br>
Individual will participate in the analysis of Qweak and other
Hall C experiments as well as preparations for future Hall C
experiments. The Qweak experiment, measuring the weak charge of
the proton, is a search for physics beyond the Standard Model via
parity violating electron
<br>
scattering.
<br>
<br>
As part of the accelerator upgrade to 12 GeV, Hall C is building a
new high momentum superconducting spectrometer which can be used
singly, or in conjunction with the existing 7 GeV High Momentum
Spectrometer and various user-supplied 3rd arm detectors.
Opportunities to participate in the construction of new detectors
and development of initial experiments to utilize the new
equipment will be available.
<br>
<br>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<br>
A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear, particle, or high-energy
astrophysics is required. Experience in analyzing data from
intermediate/high energy experiments is essential. A solid
background in lepton-nucleus physics and in GEANT Monte Carlo
simulations would be beneficial.
<br>
<br>
The appointment will be made initially for one year and may be
renewable for up to 3 years. Applicants should apply on-line at <a
