You ‘matter’ to us! Our diverse team at Jefferson Lab includes more than 700 people, including physicists, engineers, computer professionals, technicians and more. From probing the basic building blocks of matter to performing advanced computing and applied
research, we are on the leading edge of science and technology. If you are looking for a great job in a unique place where your contributions truly matter, consider Jefferson Lab!

We are currently seeking a Hall A/C Staff Scientist

Jefferson Lab, located in Newport News, Virginia, USA, is a world-class scientific laboratory managed for the U. S. Department of Energy by Jefferson Science Associates, LLC. Its
core is the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF). To expand the opportunity for discovery and to address important topics in hadronic, nuclear, and electroweak physics, Jefferson Lab completed in 2017 an upgrade of its facility by doubling
the energy of the electron beam from 6 GeV to 12 GeV, constructing a new experimental hall (D) and upgrading its existing experimental halls, A, B, C. In experimental Hall A an ambitious program of large installation experiments centered around the Super
BigBite Spectrometer is planned and new large detectors, including MOLLER and SoLID, are under development. In Hall C a series of experiments with the large, focusing superconducting spectrometers HMS and SHMS, and a new Neutral Particle Spectrometer, are
planned. Both halls employ polarized targets and beamline polarimeters to support a variety of spin-physics research.

The new Staff Scientist will assume an increasing and flexible role in the construction and/or operation of Hall subsystems. This individual will share the responsibility for execution of the experimental physics program in both Halls A and C with the combined
Hall A/C staff and external user community, providing hardware and software support of the Hall A/C instrumentation. Hall staff scientists are expected to be actively engaged in aspects of the Jefferson Lab scientific program.
