<div class="">Postdoctoral Position in Medium Energy Physics at Duke University
<p class="">The medium energy group of Prof. Vossen at Duke University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate. </p>
<p class="">The group participates in the CLAS12 experiment at Jefferson Laboratory, the EIC project detector (ePIC) as well as the Belle II experiment at KEK. The scientific focus of the group is the exploration of the nucleon structure in terms of quark-gluon
degrees of freedom in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering, hadronization in e+e- as well as flavor physics in e+e-. </p>
<p class="">Additionally, the group is significantly involved in the EIC R&D program. Here our focus are simulations and the design of reconstruction algorithms for Cherenkov based PID detectors for the EIC project detector as well as the muon id system for
a possible second detector. A recent interest of the group has been the application of ML/AI methods in reconstruction and analysis.</p>
<p class="">The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a leading role in the EIC R&D program. Additionally, it is expected that the candidate will contribute to the physics program of the CLAS12 detector at Jefferson Lab and/or the EIC, </p>
<p class="">The position can be based at either Duke University or Jefferson Laboratory. We are looking for candidates who can make creative and important contributions to our program. A PhD in experimental nuclear physics or related fields is required. The
initial appointment is for one year, which can commence immediately. Based on mutual satisfaction and continued funding, the possibility for extension exists for a maximum of two additional years. </p>
<p class="">Applicants should submit a vita and brief statement of research interests and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be uploaded to AJO. Applications received before January 1st will be guaranteed consideration. The position will remain
open until filled.</p>
