<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography at University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a postdoctoral position with its experimental nuclear physics group.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> 


</span>The research activities of the group focus on precision tests of low-energy QCD and searches for new physics beyond the standard model via the decays of light pseudoscalar mesons<a>, π<sup>0</sup>,</a> η and ηꞌ, at Jefferson Lab, Newport News, VA.<o:p> </o:p></span></p>

<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The successful candidate will be expected to make contributions


<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>in the areas of: (1) leading the analysis of recently completed PrimEx-eta experiment on the η radiative decay width<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> 


</span>and publishing the results; (2) installing and commissioning an upgraded Forward Calorimeter (FCAL-II) with a PWO crystal insert needed by the JLab Eta Factory (JEF) experiment to search for various sub-GeV dark gauge boson candidates and new C-violating,


 P-conserving interactions in the η and ηꞌ decays; and (3) preparing a new experiment to measure the π<sup>0</sup> transition form factor via the Primakoff effect. Duties may also include supervising and coordinating the work of other researchers and personnel,


 especially undergraduate students, and developing new ideas for experiments or analysis efforts at Jefferson Lab.<o:p> </o:p></span></p>

<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">This appointment will be initially for one year and is renewable contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding. Applicants should have a PhD in experimental nuclear or particle


 physics, and experience with data analysis and Geant simulations. Some hardware experience


<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>or advanced computational skills will be a plus.<o:p> </o:p></span></p>
