<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">The Medium Energy Group in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for a junior staff position in experimental medium energy nuclear physics. We welcome all applicants
with a background in experimental medium or high energy nuclear/particle physics.</span></p>
<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">We aim to appoint at the rank of Assistant Physicist (Argonne’s equivalent of a tenure-track Assistant Professor), anticipated to start as early as September 2024.</span></p>
<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">The Medium Energy Group currently consists of eight staff members, two engineers, and several postdocs and students. Our program includes:</span></p>
<ul style="direction: ltr; list-style-type: disc;">
<li>
<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">Electron scattering experiments at Jefferson Lab in Hall A, B, and C, including CLAS12 and SoLID.</span></p>
</li><li>
<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">Developing the scientific and experimental program for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC).</span></p>
</li><li>
<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">Drell-Yan experiments at Fermilab and the MUSE experiment at PSI.</span></p>
</li></ul>
<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">Additionally, we have a comprehensive program in detector technology, focusing on super-conducting nanowire detectors and pixelized MCP-PMTs. We are leading the design and construction of the Barrel
Imaging Calorimeter for ePIC at the EIC, collaborating closely with the Theory and Accelerator R&D groups in the Physics Division, as well as with the High-Energy Physics and Material Science Divisions</span></p>

<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">PhD in Nuclear Hadronic Physics or Particle Physics or a closely related field</span></p>
</li><li style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.</span></li><li>
<p style="direction: ltr;"><span style="font-size: 14px;">Preferred minimum of 2 years of research experience</span></p>
