[d2n-analysis-talk] Cerenkov Pion Rejection Efficiency Study

Hi all,

I've finished up the calculations for all kinematics concerning the pion
rejection efficiencies for both detectors. I've attached two plots of the
results for the Gas Cerenkov for both 4- and 5-pass data. The plots
consist of pion rejection efficiency as a function of cut position in the
Cerenkov. I've zoomed in on the plots so you can see the various curves
I've plotted. There are a few outliers at e ~ 95-98% that I have excluded
here -- they correspond to cut positions of 0, so those aren't terribly
important.

It's a bit cluttered, but the main point is, for all kinematics we obtain
a pion rejection efficiency >99% for all Cerenkov cuts greater than 200
channels (the 1 photopeak). I've put all kinematics on the same plot to
show that a choice of one Cerenkov cut position should be suitable for all
kinematics when it comes to PID for calculation of the cross section. Of
course, this cut position will not be finalized until I obtain the
electron detection efficiencies (next step). And even then, it would be
useful to see a range of cuts and how their corresponding results look.
