That's what the TS 'latch pattern' does.

I think the EPICS vars get put in the E.* tree.  The prescales aren't
really epics variables, but I think they might be parsed by the same
class.

The BBNormAna (and THaNormAna) classes also need the prescales.  You
could see how they retrieve them too.
