[d2n-analysis-talk] Blip in Beta Study

Hi all,
In order to try and pin down where in the S1, S2m times are we seeing this
blip in beta, I plotted the time averages for S1 and S2m against the
tracking-x variable. Plots are attached. The second plot is the plot
I've been showing you, concerning the time average vs. paddle number.
The first plot I think gives some interesting info as to where the blip in
beta is coming from -- that it's most likely due to the average time in S1
(since beta is constructed as: beta ~ const.*1/(s2_t - s1_t)). We see at x
~ 15cm, there's a blip in the beta structure -- of which is also seen in
the S1 avg. time vs. track-x plot.
(We already know that S1 is highly correlated to the resolution of beta,
but I wanted to be sure that S2m looked OK too, so I plotted both; the S2m
average time looks good across the x range. I wanted to see which plane
was causing the issue.)
The last plot is just the paddles vs. track-x, so we can see where they
fall in the detector plane. I did this to see if I can narrow down which
paddle may be causing this blip in beta -- and it appears that it's the
3rd & 4th paddle (?) (That is, if I index the paddles going from 0 - 5.)
Now, I don't know how much more I can correct the average time in S1, as
it looks pretty good so far (see plot 2)... any suggestions?
