Hi Brad,
During the meeting yesterday you asked me about the percentage of beta ~ 0
events to the total event number. I re-evaluated this ratio for all runs
(and binned by momentum) and the result is on the order of ~2.5% across
all momenta. The errors on each momentum bin range from 0.05% at the
lowest p and up to 0.15% at the highest p.
The ratio was calculated as follows:
The baseline cut was good electrons (beta > -0.15, GC ADC, PR, T3, EDTM,
VDC, and target cuts on y, z, and dp).
I then obtain the number of events from this histogram. Call this quantity
(A).
Then, I impose the cut (beta > -0.15)&&(beta < 0) on top of the other cuts
already mentioned, and I obtain that number (B).
The ratio is computed as R = A/B, with its error E calculated as:
E = R*sqrt(1/A + 1/B).
