Thanks Rebecca and Camille. The ladies on the panel today did a phenomenal job. I appreciated their honest, sincere and heartfelt emotions shared today. Special thanks to Rebecca for the notes. Since I was moderating, I haven't had a chance to review mine. You all are wonderful! I truly appreciate the support. It takes ALL of us!!!

Dear Rebecca, Dear Aurora, Dear Colleagues,

I could only join for the second half but I second Rebecca's remarks. Aurora, I know that such apparently seamless roundtables only work because of plenty of advance planning. Rebecca's key takeaways are also spot on.

Best wishes,
Camille

Good afternoon,

Like some of you, this morning I was able to attend the Women's Round Table. Snaps to Aurora for hosting a beautiful, impactful conversation. There has been much discussion about ways to build on this momentum, including the option to host a follow-up lunch or share mentorship opportunities.

There were so many great takeaways from our speakers that I wanted to summarize some of them here. I will also include them in next week's JLab Weekly, as I think that those who couldn't attend could also benefit from what was said.

Please find them here:

  * "Make your voice heard! Don't be discouraged when you hit roadblocks or if you feel ignored. Keep speaking up during meetings and conversations. Be strong." -Renuka Rajput-Ghoshal

  * "Don't get caught up on maintaining this perfect picture or idea of what your career should look like. Sometimes an opportunity comes around that doesn't match your original idea. Don't discount it. It could be the right thing for you." Anne Payne

  * "No one is responsible for your career but you. Keep searching for opportunities to grow." -Katherine Wilson

  * "We have viable contributions. Keep sharing your ideas. Keep showing up. Don't give up." -Tina Johnson

  * "I make it a point to keep telling myself that if someone doubts me, it is a reflection of them, not me. Keep striving to improve yourself. Let go of the guilt when it comes to family and work." -Shareen McCallum

  * "Sometimes you have to be creative when thinking of solutions. Think outside of the box. Don't give up on your career to maintain the work/life balance. It can be done. There is more than one way to get to your final destination. Don't be afraid to break the stereotypes. Don't be afraid to break the rules. Leave the guilt at the door." -Valerie Bookwalter

Note: The guilt that women feel when trying to balance work and home was resounding. There was a lot of supportive comments in the chatbox when the topic of guilt came up.

Again, really great event Aurora. Kudos to you and all of our amazing colleagues who spoke today.

Thanks,

R
