Thanks for being so open about your divorce and your great  grandmother's situation. From your story, It sounds like your great grandmother was a wise young woman. It seems that she realized there was  a pain to stay the  same ( being treated badly and taking

 care of intoxicated men every day). But she also realized there would  be a pain to change (escape to a new unknown country alone).</div>

<span style="font-size:12.0pt; color:black">The name Anderson honors my great grandmother who was the last of 13 siblings; all of them male. Her mother passed when she was young and she was expected to take care of them all, including her father. They treated

 her terribly and drank heavily every night. After they would pass out, she would steal just a little bit of money from their pockets in the evenings. Eventually, she had enough to purchase a ticket to America from Scotland where, at just 17, she boarded a

 ship by herself to try and make a new life here. I think about her bravery often.</span></p>
