"Structure Functions at large x"
Sebastian Kuhn, Old Dominion University
ABSTRACT:
Understanding nucleon structure in the valence region, where one quark carries a large fraction x of the nucleon momentum, is a fundamental goal in hadronic physics. Many models and theoretical predictions exist for the behavior of the ratio d(x)/u(x) of up over down quark densities and the intrinsic polarization of up and down quarks inside a polarized nucleon as x approaches x=1. Exploring this regime is one of the central experimental goals of the energy-upgraded CEBAF accelerator at Jefferson Lab. I will present an overview of this experimental program, with an emphasis on recent measurements with the CLAS12 spectrometer in Hall B of Jefferson Lab.

"Nucleon structure in the extreme valence region"
Sebastian Kuhn, Old Dominion University
ABSTRACT:
Measuring parton distribution functions (PDFs) in the valence region at high Bjorken-x is one pillar of the experimental program of Jefferson Lab at 12 GeV.
I will review the status of our knowledge of polarized and unpolarized nucleon structure functions at very high x. I will especially focus on the recent “BONuS12” experiment with CLAS12 at Jefferson lab to measure the ratio F2n/F2p of neutron to proton unpolarized structure functions, and provide a first glimpse of the data on spin structure functions accumulated through the RG-C experiment with CLAS12.
—
We have already presented the BONuS12 results in the DPPWG meeting during the past CLAS Collaboration meeting, and we are requesting a data release (hopefully that can be scheduled for the December 5 DPPWG meeting). Any data from RG-C will be very preliminary (similar to what was shown for the PAC52 jeopardy review) and will have a big stamp “PRELIMINARY” across.
Please let me know if you have any comments/concerns. - Sebastian
