And just to reiterate what we said during the EVO session: the latest
setup, which simulates our 2011 prototype at CERN, is found in
prototype.cc.
For the DIRC at EIC simulation I recommend that we forget about Marcol and
use solid fused silica expansion volumes (EV) in drcprop.
A useful first drcprop study could be to look at the number of photons,
photon thetaC distributions, timing, and hit patterns for pions, kaons,
and protons with momenta from threshold to 4-6 GeV/c with different
incident angles to demonstrate what resolution we may need.
For the EV I would assume some reasonably large detector plane with
either a small depth (i.e. 10cm) and a mid-size depth (30cm). The bar
could stay at 17mm thickness and 35mm width for now with few meter
length and particles passing through the bar at roughly realistic angles
and positions for an EIC central detector.
You will see that the current lens implementation is not so good for
particle angles perpendicular to the bar, that's why Carsten is
investigating the anti-reflective coatings. But it's still useful to
become familiar with DIRC patterns in hit position and timing space for
different particles, momenta, and angles.
Cheers,
Joe
