Hi Walt,

Thank you for stopping by. Just to let the collaborators know what we talked about:

Since the AC unit measures the temperature using an on-board sensor, the unit should be where you are trying to cool. With that, the AC unit will have to go inside the room.

>From the manual, the intake and output vents should be at least 20" away from any walls. With that, the best place for the unit is still probably across from the door, as close as it can be to the corner of the room.

Greg and everyone else,
If this placement is okay, we can move the unit into place (it's on wheels), let Walt and Facilities Management know, and they will set up the drainage pump and exhaust holes.

Subject: [dsg-eic_dirc] Location of AC unit in EEL 108 for EIC DIRC sub-room

Hi Walt and Carroll,

We had an EIC - DIRC meeting today and discussed the best placement for the AC unit in the sub-room for the EIC-DIRC in EEL 108.

The AC vent should not blow on the table, so it should be placed on the side of the room with the door on the wall across from the door and be pointing towards the door. Attached is a sketch of the area with where the vent should be noted by a yellow box.

With that placement of the vent, could the AC unit be placed outside of the sub-room with it's output ducted into the room? Putting the unit outside and ducting it into the room would save floor space in an already small room. It'd also make it easier to put a HEPA filter in front of the output register in the room to further cut down on dust in the room.

When would you all be available to meet in EEL 108 to discuss the AC unit placement?
I am available this afternoon, Tuesday - Thursday before 1:30PM, or anytime but 11:00AM - 12:00PM on Friday.

-Tyler
