[dsg-eic_dirc] EIC DIRC Help

Hi Andrew,

Good to hear some of the quartz bars were able to be separated!

There is one project for Hall B RICH hardware interlocks that has my priority right now since it needs to be done in time for installation and testing before the halls close for the physics run, so I will not be able to finish the full DAQ program with motion control for the DIRC laser lab by January 17.
I expect/hope the Hall B work will wrap up late next week and I can put most of my time towards DIRC development starting January 21.

As for your request for someone to run the tests on the bars, I will have to get back to you on who that will be and what percentage of time they will be able to run the tests. I've CC'd my group's mailing list so the info goes to those in charge of work planning.

To help with the scheduling, I have some questions:
What is the goal date for when we want all tests completed?
Are bars ready right now? Or is it something where a few bars will be ready every week?

For scheduling regular DIRC meetings, in person is fine. But, I'm not available at 2:00pm on Mondays.
I can meet any time 8:30am - 12:30pm or 3:30pm - 5:00pm on Mondays, though, so just let me know.

-Tyler

Hello Tyler,

I don't know if you heard or not, but we were able to separate the bars!!!!!!!! I will discuss later on the details of the process on how we did it, but for now to move forward, I had a meeting with Greg this week to go over the process of what is needed next year. He mentioned a few things for the laser lab set-up that would require your attention and would need to be done by January 17th, 2025. They are as follow:

  *
Script Based Motors control
  *
DAQ Control
  *
Combining both for Automated set control
  *
testing of this system to make sure all is in working order

Without these things done, the measurements have to be done in Expert mode. This would require a lot of time to put together and a person to have advance laser training. This leads me to the next thing for up coming help and/or allocating time. We need someone to operate the laser to take measurements while Greg is away during the week. (This is why having the list above is important). Greg will train this person on the procedures of how operate the laser and to take the measurements for low and high power. This person can not be a student and preferably JLAB personal who is capable, dependable, and can allocate the time to see the project through. The only person that we thought of that fits this criteria is possibly you. My question is: Is this something that you can do? We would require about 50% of your time after January 20th, 2025. What we are asking for you to do, is operate the laser and take down measurements. My techs will be installing/removing and handling of the Bars. Let me know your thoughts/concerns, is this even a possibility for you, etc. If you like, I can address your supervisor if that is easier for acquiring your help.

Also, we would like to go back to having weekly Monday Meetings @2pm Starting 1/20/25. We can do Zoom, however, in-person is preferred. I can meet earlier if you want, just let me know so I can Adjust my schedule.
