Hi Patrizia and Rolf,
We noticed some vapor coming from the sintered vent on the test stand. So we contacted Jlab industrial hygiene and they would like to take air samples while we run our tests.
They didn't note any issues after reviewing the safety data sheet, we are using food grade mineral oil.
At any rate, it will take them a day or two to receive and set up the sample kits.
We will send updates once we restart.
Regards,
Marc

Hi Marc,
Thanks for the nice updates (and the work that leads to them!). I look forward
to hearing about the next round of air flow tests.
Best regards, Rolf

Subject: [Dsg-eic_tracker] EIC Beamline test stand
Hi Patrizia and Rolf,
The EIC Beamline test stand has been upgraded with 1500 W heater which is controlled via the LabVIEW software developed by DSG. The test stand has additional temperature sensors on the heater pipe to allow faster response of the controls to a change in temperature.
As of 4pm today the temperature of the inner pipe (simulated beryllium beamline) is almost at the target temperature of 100 C (see RTD_D below). Within the coming days we will complete air flow test as we did previously and show the effect of the airflow at different locations of the inner surface of the outer pipe (simulated silicon). The test stand has aerogel covering the area of the "beryllium" beamline, which will prevent the airflow from contacting that surface directly. We expect this to change how the flow of air reduces the heat on the surface of the simulated beryllium beamline.
