[Dsg-halla_ecal] Next Ecal Meeting

Hi Bogdan,

In this meeting we will focus on the frame assembly and quality checks. This will determine how many of the current frames are ready for SM assembly. Once this is settled, we can do the same for the lead glass.

Are there mechanical drawings or models for the lead glass that we can review?

Dear Marc and Albert,

We need also take into account that some of lead-glass blocks are bit shorter.
It will be great to made inventory from this point of view.

Bogdan

Hi Albert,

I have reviewed the new super module documents you sent. I have counted 26 SM1 frames and 23 SM2 frames which have been completed.

Bogdan has said 57 frames are needed to complete the project, I think it is better to build a few extra (60).

We would like to have the quality inspections of the frames clarified. Here are some of my observations of the frames, and potential quality issues.

I have reviewed the drawings. The 9 spacers are cut from a stock part, so they should all be the same diameter. The length of the spacer is determined by the cut of the 1.5" tube stock. That should be the only variable (assuming they were cut using standard machining techniques and tool...they should be cut square). If the spacers are measured prior to assembly to the flange, any length issues should be apparent.

According to the drawing for Flange 2, there is a seat for each of these spacers. If Flange 2 is machined with a drill press on a flat surface, alignment issues of the spacers to the flange holes should not be an issue. There could be an issue with the spacers not seating all they to the base of Flange 2 or glue on the inside of the spacer/Flange 2 interface.

Finally, the last thing that Bogdan was concerned about was the end of the screws possibly protruding into 6 of the holes of Flange 2.

If there are some examples of frames which are not within specification, it would be useful to see the issues.

I will set a meeting for Thursday (October 14) at 1pm (Jlab time). We need to clarify what other issues to look for when examining a frame.

Regards,
Marc
