Hi Albert,

I’m planning on moving the controls to the physics storage on Monday.

I’ve tested the software with the single supermodule. It controls the temperature between the set points and controls ramping.

Tomorrow I will confirm networking communications in the physics storage building for the cRIO controller. I have already ran the cable, I still need to reassign the cRIO to that subnet and test to make sure I can log in remotely.

Once confirmed, I will need the test stand to be at room temperature to install the Omega High Temperature RTDs<https://assets.omega.com/pdf/test-and-measurement-equipment/temperature/sensors/rtds/RTD-2-F3102.pdf> on the supermodule front flanges and aluminum bar heater, for the controls...by Monday. These RTDs are rated for 480 degrees C.

I have attached a screen shot from the controls while I was testing at low temperature with the supermodule I have in the oven.

The software will control 4 power relays independently (Lowell RPC-20 picture attached) :

1 relay will power a group of 3 supermodules in parallel (Bank 1)
1 relay will power a group of 3 supermodules in parallel (Bank 2)
1 relay will power a single aluminum bar side (Al 1)
1 relay will power a single aluminum bar side (Al 2)

The software will monitor all 6 supermodules and 2 aluminum bar sides as well as the heated volume in front of the supermodules.

I have one extra RTD to monitor either the back end of the test stand or as a redundant temperature for the front heated volume area.

The heated volume will be monitored by an independent Omega process controller, I will set it to trip (and latch) all power to the heaters if the temperature exceeds the Omega set point. For the single SM test stand I used 400 degrees C. The Omega interlock should not be cleared until the test stand has been visually verified safe...this will require someone to go to the test stand to clear the latch.

There will be a monitor and keyboard so that your group can set the operating values after I train everyone, which I plan to do next week.

All RTD temperatures will be datalogged for plotting.

Finally, I will prepare some documentation about the system so you can add the controls into your safety document.

Regards,
Marc

Subject: test SM

Hi Marc,

Thermal tests of 6 SM were started and now the situation has stabilized.
If you are planning to test the control system, please let me know?

Thank you,
Albert
