Hi Don,
I'll look over your document and discuss it with the group. We will determine an appropriate channel count and let you know what will be needed to monitor that.
The original controls temperature monitoring numbers and control (~50 channels) is covered by the initial procurement of the controls system.
Have you set up your controls and monitoring laptop in the counting house yet and put it on the Hall subnet? If so send me the PC name so I can upload your controls and monitoring GUI.
Marc

Subject: [Dsg-halla_ecal] thermocouple
Hi Marc,
I have built a spreadsheet with a map of all the control and monitoring thermocouples I plan to install in ECal. The spreadsheet has 3 sheets:
1. the front aluminum plate that you will use for temperature control. I will install two thermocouples in each zone for redundancy (total 96), but you only have to readout or connect to one in each zone if you want. If you prefer to average two, we will just need more channels.
2. the crystal temperatures will be monitored at front and back. I will install 49 thermocouples on the front of the crystals and 49 on the back. Some of these are for redundancy, so we can substantially reduce the actual number being read out.
3. the light guide temperatures to ensure the PMTs don't overheat. I would like to read out all 39 of these.
Let's discuss how many channels of readout is reasonable and work to reduce the connections to that number. The remaining thermocouple will be available to be swapped in in the event of failures.
