The test is crucial for the GEp run approval.

Hi Bogdan and Don,

I was able to install a 16 channel thermocouple module  in the cRIO during the maintenance day. I am monitoring 15 of the 16 channels of the crystals which includes the front and back of each supermodule, the left and right side, and the space between the top-middle supermodules and the middle-bottom supermodules.

I have named the sensors by position to eliminate any channel numbering confusion (see attached monitoring screen photo).

I developed a labVIEW display for these temperatures as well as a log file recorded on the cRIO SD card (remotely accessible).

Next maintenance day I plan to debug the 16th sensor and confirm the measurement locations of all 16 sensors.

***NOTE: these 16 thermocouples are not part of the controls system, and have no effect on how the heaters run. They only provide measurement data for the surface of the crystals.***


As far as the controls system, I ran the low temperature test and all channels are functioning. See the attached plot from 09/21. I suggest we meet with Ed next week to go over your plan to go to operational temperature (220 degrees C on the front crystals). I will set up a meeting next week after I debug and verify the crystal temperature sensors, assuming there is a maintenance day and I am available.
