Hi Don,

Here is an update on the progress of the heater controls.

PSIC assembly and testing:

12 PSICs have been assembled and fully tested with no issues (Mindy Leffel and George Jacobs). 10 of these have been registered with the labs Non-NRTL program. At the current rate 16 should be registered by the second week in November. DSG plans to install them in the hall at that point

Controls rack:

Mindy has assembled and installed 3 of the 4 expansion cRIOs (48 channel controls, 48 channel safety, and 96 crystal temperatures) with the necessary terminal blocks for thermocouples and cable drain grounds. I have installed the main power supply and have tested the thermocouple channels to ensure the inputs are correct. She is working on adding the 4th (39 light guide temperature).

I am working on the safety system relay coil power distribution and Omega process controller and watchdog relay installation.

FYI, I have taken one of your extension cables from EEL 126 to test that we will have no issues reading a thermocouple using the controls and the Omega...it looks fine.

I still have at least a week of work to wrap up the connection in the controls rack.

I will request help moving it to the hall in a few weeks.

Controls and Monitoring Software:

I have written code for:

Main - runs all subroutine programs
48 channel controls DAQ - reads in temperatures, current...etc from sensors
48 channel PID - reads zone temp, compares to setpoint and automatically adjust channel control voltage value
48 channel control voltage set point - Takes output from PID or manual input and sets control voltage to power supply
48 channel heater controls interlock - Software over-temperature interlocks for each channel

Need to write:

96 channel crystal temperature monitor
39 channel light guide temperature monitor
EPICS PV updater
Graphical User Interface

These should all be done sometime in November.

FYI - I will be away from the lab 10/26 to 11/1

Regards,
Marc
