The short answer is yes. This test is covered under a task list. This is the way we have been running these tests from the beginning although the task list has evolved as changes were required.
We have to run the system overnight or we can't get the data we need to confirm it actually works well. When we did this months ago on a similar but 120VAC version of the system (the new system is 48VDC), we ran it without automated controls and just came
in to monitor the temperatures and adjust the current manually. That worked, but it is tedious. Now that we have controls, we expect the system to behave better and to take less time to regulate to the correct temperature than our previous "manual" adjustment
and so far it appears to be working very well. But since the controls haven't been fully vetted, I think we should treat it like it is a manual control and come in regularly to check on it. I understand your concern. I don't think I am being cavalier here
because this appears to carry very low risk. I was planning on a check in frequency of every 3 hours. If you want to increase that I can accommodate. I suppose I could just stay all night as well if that is required, but I would like to run it non-stop for
several days to get some hard data. If you request, I can also just turn it off overnight, but we will then have to decide how to proceed with making procurements without a system tested up to expected running temperatures.

Jimmy and I adjusted the settings higher. Everything seems to be behaving as expected. We need to get data on the fully heated system ASAP so that we can place an order for heaters and power
supplies this fiscal year (as in this week). As we discussed this morning, since the system is new and may not behave exactly as we expect, we will need to monitor it more closely. After watching it today, I realized it will not reach temperatures we need
during our regular 8 to 10 hour workday, so Jimmy and I agreed to run the system overnight by alternating coming in to check on it every few hours throughout the evening and night. We can tweak setpoints as necessary or even shut it down if there is an issue.
We carefully monitored each material used in the enclosure for temperature rating and have already run the heaters and enclosure to much hotter temperatures than what we are aiming for here, so I am not worried about unexpected material flammability. However,
we haven't used this control+power supply sufficiently, so we will need to come in physically to make sure everything is behaving as expected. Checking every few hours should be sufficient to catch an unexpected runaway effect. We should physically check the
power supplies to make sure they aren't overheating and that the system as a whole is behaving safely and meeting expectations. If there is a way for us to monitor it remotely like you do, that would be handy too.
