Hi Holly,
1. George's design could be used for either detector during maintenance. I think we will end up with two units, which can serve both detector packages, simultaneously.
2. Great, we will go with the design as planned.
3. The design is mobile, reasonably light (< 40 lbs) so it can be where ever it is needed
* You may want to consider having at least one unit not permanently stored in the hall.
4. This maintenance system will have a 25 psi relief valve (see RV1 diagram below) in front of the 0-15 psi regulator [cid:90928617-8292-44b5-99b6-726b96212ed9]

I have a question and some information for you as well.
Do you know when any of the INFN modules will be connected to the DSG GEM gas distribution system in the TEDF. Currently, there are four channels connected to the single UVA GEM and four High Flow Channels set up for the INFN modules. We expected them to be hooked up to our system a week or two ago. We would like to confirm the operation of the High Flow channels.
Additionally, I will be bringing over the prototype exhaust gas flow sensor system components, probably by the end of next week. We will bring two channels to test for each type of GEM. Once they are hooked up, you can observe the supply flow and the exhaust flow to see if there is any back pressure added due to the exhaust sensors.
Regards,
Marc

Hi Marc,
Sorry for the long delay. I was trying to get some more information on the system and got sidetracked.
I believe the system that George has designed will be enough. A few questions/comments:
1. Is this to cover both BB and SBS? I was assuming so, but just wanted to check.
2. Flow rates seem fine.
3. Since this is mobile, where would it be located in the Hall? Near the other gas distribution system?
4. Is there a relief valve between the regulator and detector?
Sorry for the delay.
Thanks,
Holly

Hi Kondo and Holly,
Do you have any information on the specifications for the supplemental gas distribution George has designed? Will the concept as designed meet all the requirements?

Hi Kondo and Holly,
George Jacobs briefed the DSG on his proposal for a self contained supplemental gas distribution unit, as was discussed in the last monthly GEM gas distribution meeting.
This design will have the components installed in a 6U chassis, so it will be mobile and will only require a gas supply connection and connectivity to the detector at one of the output channels.
His talk is attached, please read through it.
We would like to know some additional information prior to moving on to component selection. George's design provides six channels of flow, four 500 sccm flow meter valves and two 1000 sccm flow meter valves. Do you think this is sufficient? If not please provide some specification such as channel count and flow limits for the channel count types.
Additionally, please let us know what the timeline for this system is for the GEM project, this information is helpful to the DSG manager as he schedules all DSG activities.
The current proposal does not provide remote monitoring, as this system is designed to be mobile. Remote monitoring would require additional instrumentation and consideration due to the need for network infrastructure, data acquisition, and power. If this is a requirement, please specify.
