What was transferred was (at least) the upgrade license. Yes, you should remove what you currently have from cadlm2.

I think once you have the license server running on a another computer I should be able to just transfer the ones that are running locally to it, but I haven't actually tried it out yet so I'm not entirely sure how that process will go.

Hi Brian,

So, if Siemens transferred the license to you, then am I now legally required to shut down my instance of that license server?
We can't keep two active copies of the same license on the JLAB network? right?
There should have been paperwork that stated that requirement.

Or did Siemens transfer a different license to you?

Hi Todd,

It looks like the mailing list held your email.

Siemens ended up transferring that license to me. Right now each of the licenses is hosted by the local computer it is running on, meaning we really can only use those 2 computers (as they’re both on subnets that are firewall’d off from others), we’d like to be able to run it on more than that.

I thought the plan for these licenses was to run the Siemens software on another computer so that we wouldn’t need to purchase additional software to handle users/groups?

Existing users would continue to use cadlm2 while we (DSG, Moller) would use the new server.

Good morning all,

Yes. I am currently running a software License Manager on a central server for you guys, for some of your Siemens software license(s).
My associated server computer name is "cadlm2".

* See my screen shot below, showing the license(s) that are managed on that server, "cadlm2".
* FYI - According to the server logs, the following group and user accounts have recently accessed those licenses;
(license users from 2/15/24 to present)
        ssgpss, << group account
        aguilar
        anbazhag
        metcalf
        jkowal

I was aware that there are other Siemens License Manager installations at JLAB. But I don't know who manages those, or what the server hostname(s) are.
Amrit has requested that I transfer the license(s) from "cadlm2" to Arron.
Is Arron currently running a separate License Management server, hosting other Siemens licenses?

I am not familiar with Siemens' process for requesting a license transfer from one server to another.
But, I do see a menu option for "License Key - Offline Transfer".
Do I need to initiate the transfer request with Siemens? Or does the license "owner" need to handle that with the vendor, Siemens?
Please let me know what additional information you might need from me.

brian has upgraded his license to the 2019 version

could you transfer your license to aaron brown, he could upgrade the license to 2019

aaron and brian must have the same plc version 19 for them to contribute effectively and in a timely fashion to the moeller project

please contact brian in this matter

ps

brian
perhaps we should get two more licenses (pablo and tyler )
so-called manpower contingency (a la poisson distribution!)

also, i am worried that you may fall sick, or take a vacation, or win the power ball...
who knows then what happens
