Hello Steven,

In the past weeks, DSG has been looking into the specifications of the Dataforth Signal Conditioner module (model: SCM5B31-09D) that will be used for the voltage tap readout, to ensure that modules can handle voltages produced by the magnet during a quench.

We've been able to check the transient input protection rating code ANSI/IEEE C37.90.1. in ANSI-IEEE standard issued in 2002 and based on it, the Dataforth module would be adequate to operate with the expected voltages in the magnet (Voltage peaks of ~ 350 V, based on CLEO-II Oxford Manual) , but we do not know if the standard has changed on its newer issued version.
DSG/Jlab staff does not have access to this newer issued standard.

For the record, please let us know if you approve or disapprove of the use of the Dataforth modules under the mentioned considerations.

Regards,
Pablo
