Hello,
What I found when I made a hot check out of the CLEO-II radial strain gauges. I used the corrected wiring for sensors R and S to record data for the other sensors. No other sensors have been re-wired.
1. There is a wiring mismatch between the sensors and the Dataforth signal conditioner input. I was able to get a signal if the white and black wires are switched at the input to the Dataforth module. Pins 1 and 4 are for excitation of the sensors (P- and P+) and pins 2 and 3 are for the sensors read back (S- and S+). The wires for P- and S- were swapped. S- to S+ should read about 350 ohms. P- to P+ about 420 ohms
2. Sensors J and N are flat-lined - no signal - their wiring / pin seating needs to be re-check.
3. Sensor L's wiring needs to be checked as well as it is giving a zero read back but has noise on the signal.
4. Drawings will need to be updated to reflect wiring changes, whatever they turn out to be to resolve the mis-matched wiring.
5. In the HMI, the unit of force would better if it were kg instead of lbf - to match archived data in the log books.
6. The radial sensors have been measured and a first pass at their calibration has been done. The PLC code's ladder logic routine has been modified to reflect this calibration data. No new name was given to the .adc filename, as this routine will be modified again for the axial load cells calibration when they are done. As always, the previous un-modified program is auto saved as a backup file.
7. HMI force links - interlocks and faults need to be tested - some seem to work and others don't?
8. It should be considered that an upper and lower limit interlock on the strain gauges be used - Some of the side loads are very close to zero and the manual warns about them not going into compression - so negative values should at least be warnings, maybe not interlocks though? Interlocks would be used for when the magnet is being cooled or warm so that one can make adjustments or investigate what is going on.
9. The trend charts do not show archive data - the database is not setup for that yet I presume.
10. The HMI will time out, asking for a username and password. This has just recently appeared. Inputting one's user name and password does not work and I have to kill the HMI process in task manager and then restart it.
