[Dsg-halla_magnets] wiring on CLEO CL turret

Hi Steven,

Wait, so Hall A is going to just cut the wires? Where? At the inside of the larger flange? If so, I'm assuming they're labeling all the wires prior? As long as it's labeled properly Mindy can do the re-wiring.

I would have labeled the wires then de-soldered at the connectors themselves on the smaller flanges. While taking longer than just cutting them it both preserves the wire length as well as not introducing another solder joint along the cable path.

For sure any work we do on it we'd want to have completed prior to it being installed as soldering those small wires on a platform sounds much more difficult than if it's at ground level.

Thanks Brian

The turret can be moved back to the Test lab after Hall A has completed cleaning and welding on it - in hall A. The cables have to be cut to allow for this work to proceed.

The re-wiring can be done anytime after that. It needs to be completed sooner rather then later so that hot check out of the controls and verification of the cabling/wiring/ sensors can proceed before cool down starts.

It would be best to have the re-wiring done before the CL turret is mechanically installed on top of the magnet, but that is not a hard requirement, one would just have to work on the platform doing the wire re-connection for ~120 wires.

If there are suggestions on how best to cut the wires please let Hall A know before they actual cut the cables.

Thanks
Steven

Hi Steve,

We're still working through scheduling with other projects, but tentatively it looks like we'll be able to help.

A few quick questions:
– Can the turret be moved to EEL/125 (if not, the TEDF high bay)?
– When does this (in particular the de-cabling) need to be completed by?

Hello Steven,

I let Brian answer since he has been looking into this matter.

Hello Pablo,

Any word on if the DSG will be able to help out on the CLEO Current lead turret wiring?
