Lead time for the weldable vacuum connectors is 6 weeks.
Also the flange isn't a standard one so it will need to be fabricated from scratch.

Met with Mark and Whit earlier today, quick meeting summary.
– Hall techs will move the turret to the lower position on the stand and move it to EEL/125
– DSG will then do the work to disconnect the wires from the small flanges (test, label, etc)
– Whit will try and verify the large flange size
– Brian will get the lead time for vacuum feedthrough connectors
Depending on the lead time for the parts as well as work required will determine if we can go ahead with replacing the large flange with ones with connectors. If the time scale is around a month it will be okay.
Whit estimated that it would be on the order of 2-3 weeks for the parts to arrive for the work that the Hall techs will do the turret, so that that would be the time available for disconnecting.
As for reconnection it would depend on if a new flange is procured or not, so we don't have an answer for that yet.
There are also disconnected wires at the bottom of the turret, DSG will attempt to repair these, but only after all the other turret work has been completed.

When would be a good time to meet?

Brian,
I talked with Jessie. Since he has reduced manpower, the Hall A techs can only support step 5 of mechanical
work and cleaning. So we would need support for step 1-4.
It would be good to meet with Whit Seay and myself.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,
This is what I had understood the work would roughly look like:
1. Hall techs do any testing required by Steve prior to any work, e.g. make sure nothing is shorted to the turret.
2. Hall techs labels all the wires (basically putting 2 labels on each wire on each side of a cut)
3. Once labeled DSG would verify available slack to see if extensions are required for reconnection or not
4. Hall techs cuts the wires at the large flange in order to separate it from the turret
5. Hall techs do whatever mechanical work/cleaning/etc on the turret
6. In parallel with 5 DSG would fix any bent pins and any other cleanup/modifications on the wires/connectors
7. Once steps 5 & 6 are complete DSG would join the cut wires with solder splices and heat shrink.
If we need to have a meeting to go over anything or if I've misunderstood the tasks let me know.
Thanks
Brian

Amrit,
We need additional hardware help from the DSG for the CLEO magnet test. We have pressure to start the test
by Sept 1st ,so we have an urgency to get this additional work done. Steve Lassiter has informally ask for help with this work.
Working with Whit Seay and the Hall A techs, we need help to develop a method
and assist with the removal of six feed thru connectors (each connector has three ten pin
connectors on it for a total of 180 pins but not all are wired) on the CLEO service turret can.
I have attached pictures of the connectors.
Plan should include labeling and documenting all cables and wiring prior to removal
from the vacuum feed thru, removal of the wires from the feed thru and then re-connecting the wires back to the feed thru connectors once the mechanical work is done on the current lead turret can.
DSG would be responsible for the re-connection and testing of the wires and connections after re-connection.
If you have time to do this work, it would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark
