Subject: Timeline for DC Gas System Ops

Hi Bob,

Mac has informed me that he wants the gas system operational as soon as practical. I have scheduled argon deliveries to begin the week of 7 Nov.

The critical path to mixing gas is to have the DC Gas storage tanks behind the 96B gas shed operational. These tanks require ASME relief valve to be installed prior to use. The lower set of tanks, the two 5000 gallon units, only have 3 connections. Two on top and a drain on the bottom. So, modification of one of the top connections will be required for relief valve installation. Green epoxy was used on all of the pipe thread fittings in all 4 of these tanks. These connections may require heat to undo. A manlift may be required to access these connections.

The critical path to flowing gas to the detectors in the hall is dependent on gas manifold installation on the torus. Once these manifolds are installed, the 18 detectors and the gas system can then be connected to it. It is estimated that it may require 4 weeks to flow gas to the detectors once the manifolds are in place.

Can you give me an estimate of when the ASME relief valves will be ready to install and when we will have access to attach the detectors to the manifolds?

Thanks,
George
