Dear All 



An email for the MVT and FTT gas system for Hall B. 




I asked for a meeting with Amrit, George, Maxime and me to have an update on the construction of the gas mixing system for Hall B. 




It seems that we are at the same point than last January (or even last June) for the mixing system: 




The needs are identified, and the proposal, PNI, of George is done and correct. 

Amrit explained that no PA (Pressure Analysis) was started, no green light for the funding was given and thus no order of any material was passed nor any work done. 





It is now clear for me that we will have the Fall run with premixed bottle. This for all detectors (18 MVT barrel, 6 MVT forward, 4 FTT), at 2 l/h (minimum) this is 1 bottle of premix per day. A bottle of Ar+10%iso is 250 $ (with 10% CF4 for forward it will be more expensive). Thus the Fall run will consume more than 16 k$ of gas and need personal for ~ daily bottle exchange. 




For running with premixed gas, I evaluate the cost at minimum of 40 k$ a year (for 4 months of run) and I add risk due to daily bottle exchange. 




For Fall 2017 we need to prepare PA for premixed gas run, order bottles and items for premix installation 

For spring 2018, we need to do PA for mixing units, and prepare orders to have procurement before end of 2017. 




In order to move forward asap I propose a meeting next week with all the involved persons around the table: Franck and me for the MVT, George for the hardware (Amrit will be out), Bob as CT leader, Matt as security officer and Volker as hall B leader. 




Volker could you give us a day/time beginning next week when to meet ? 





The assembly of MVT is ongoing at good step here, it would be a pity if we could not feed the instrument in ~ October
