Bob,

We may need to consider a different MFC for the exhaust. If your buffer tank is just above atmosphere, your fan may not be able to pull the low side down enough to (at least 10 psi differential) to control the flow with the standard MKS GE50.

Alicat makes a Whisper<https://www.alicat.com/wp-content/documents/specifications/DOC-SPECS-MCW-MID.pdf?_gl=1*6pp12y*_gcl_aw*R0NMLjE3MDYxMjg5NjguQ2owS0NRaUFoOE90QmhDUUFSSXNBSWtXYjYtWHRaUFdpUWxmZHJYR2tIbW8zRXU3TGthYlZ1YW5hN3Nid3VWbkhIVkRrMnV0Q3VXN01pUWFBc01QRUFMd193Y0I.*_gcl_au*MTkwNTU2NDUxOS4xNzA2MTI4OTY4> series which will work at 0.07 PSID when venting to atmosphere. You would need to adapt this to your 1/2" piping, the connection is 1/8" NTP.

I will get a quote on this as well.

Hi Bob,

I have requested quotes for the MFCs, from Lesker, using your connection specification (1/2" swagelok compression). I have rfqs for GE50a for 200 sccm and 500 sccm. 200 is a little more than the 170 cc/min you specified for the detector flow. However, I am not sure if 200 is too much of a limit.

The specified controlled flow scale for these is 2% of full scale to 100%. The resolution is 0.1% of full scale (see link for spec. sheet<https://www.mks.com/mam/celum/celum_assets/resources/GE50-DS.pdf?4>). These are the MFCs we have been working with for years, so communication

These should be fine for the supply side (15 psi at the regulator) and the return (1050 mbar = ~15 psi) , as long as we can keep the differential at the specification.

I'll set up a meeting once I get quotes back so we can talk about the system before anything is ordered. A lot of this will depend on stock and lead time.

Marc

Hi Marc,

The MFC and solenoid valve connections will be 1/2" Swagelok compression fittings, and the pressure sensors will be 1/4" NPT.

Do you have any questions about the set up or failure modes?

Thanks,
Bob
