[dsg-hallb_gas] Purge the gas line

Hi Gabriel,

The panel was moved to hall b earlier this week. DSG is working with hall b engineering and mechanical to connect the instrumentation and get the system running.

I expect this to be done in the early part of the coming week.

We will also have the pressure and flows (for the ALERT DC and Target straw) sent to archived process variables which you can monitor through Mya.

I’ll send an update next week as the system progresses.

Regards,
Marc

Hello,

As you probably know the panel is now inside the Hall and ready to be set.

The temporary setup installed by Bob was very helpful but of course the lack of controls forces us to check that everything is fine everyday.
Even when I was on site, I did not do it properly: I did see a bottle was empty and then didn't see that the flow meter was closed.
It is anyway not possible to know immediately when a bottle is empty. With the new system this kind of problem will be avoided.

Hence I'm going to wait that the gas system is accessible via EPICS. So please, whevener you have time, can you work on it?

Bob, right now everything is opened as I was still running HV tests tonight. HV are now off.
Can you close the flow meter please? And then fill the Hall pipes with N2 at twice the atmospheric pressure. That will keep water away and speed up the restart process.

See you when the beam will be in Hall B,

Hi Bob,

I am working on integrating the ALERT DC controls software to the cRIO in the hall. It will take a few days to get it up and running and tested.

Whenever the panel moves, Brian will asses the hardware connections needed and get with DSG staff so the pressure sensors, the solenoid, and the pump are connected as I am working on the software.

Please keep us updated on the panel movement.

Regards,
Marc

Hi Denny,

When do you expect to install the gas panel next to ALERT?

Hi Marc,

When do you expect the gas panel to be functional in the Hall?

Thanks,

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [ALERT] Purge the gas line

Hi Bob,

As we discussed yesterday, would it be possible to start purging the Hall B gas line? As per the current schedule, ALERT detector will be at the beam level on Thursday. It's probably a good point to start purging then.

In case the installation is taking longer we could stop purging over the weekend and leave 2 atmospheric pressure in the tube.

 What do you think?

Have a nice day,
