Hi Bob,
I expect that the pressure controls for the ALERT DC will be ready for testing by 10/30/24. It should take at least a few days to modify the current flow control code to read the two pressure transducers on the tank and control the 24VDC solenoid.
Today I will work on getting the hardware connected (3 MFCs, 1 solenoid).
Can you send the information on the pump or fan you intend to use for exhaust pressure.
As for the Target straw test, it has been running for ~ 300 hours without any leaks.
Marc

Hi Gabriel,
The gas panel has been modified to operate at 1050 mbar. It will be fully assembled on Monday.
Marc is working on the controls. I am not sure when the controls will be ready, but it should be soon.
We were not aware of your need for the gas panel and it is not ready to use. I will let you know when it is ready and tested.
Thanks,
Bob Miller

Hi Bob and Morgan,
The Orsay guys in the EEL building are ready to perform a leak test on the detector.
The gas bench has been modified since last time.
Could you find time to show them how to operate it, please?
They are ready to do it already.
Have a nice day,

Hi Gabriel,
I connected a bottle sometime before lunch so you should have some flow through the system.

Hi Gabriel,
The was a mix-up with both the gas company and Procurement that needed to get resolved. Gas is here now, I'll get one on-line today, hopefully this morning sometime. I'll let you know.
Regards,
Morgan

Hi Morgan,
Any news from the bottles? A team from Orsay will at JLab next week, it would be perfect is the bottles are in place.
Have a nice day,

Hi Gabriel,
4 bottles of He-CO2 80/20 have been ordered. They're supposed to be delivered by the end of the month, 5/31.
Regards,
Morgan

Hi,
We see in our hv setup unstable conditions, voltages that hold at some point do not hold 2 hours later, same goes for the signal. Then, when a new bottle is installed, the HV can reach higher values.
Though, we have seen signal with this gas mixture when the new bottle was installed! It is a great news.
Unfortunately, after a few hours of tests the signal was not good anymore and more spark would occur.
Due to these sparks we have probably burnt one Dream chip (we still have many spares) but I prefer to stop the hv for the moment.
At this point, I suspect the inhomegeneity of the gas mixture to be responsible for voltage unstabilities.
As you already mentionned that you want to order new bottles, I would appreciate if indeed you can do so and we will resume our tests when the bottles will be available.
It will also depends on the availability of the scintillators that are used by other experiments.
Thank you for your strong and quick support during this first test period, it is appreciated.
Have a nice day,

that's what I was afraid of; that first bottle seemed to go pretty quickly. Most likely, they've lost some pressure since we bought them for BONUS. I'll check the ones on the pad and order some more.

Hi Morgan,
Based on the advertised volume of 220 cubic feet, the bottles should have 1800 psig when full.
The bottle you connected with 200 psig will only last 2 days.

lol, yes. one is connected and turned on. It's only showing a couple of hundred psi though. I don't remember how much pressure the He/CO2 usually have.

Thanks Morgan,
Is one connected to the gas panel and turned on?

Hi Bob,
I put 2 bottles in the clean room, and we have 2 more on the gas pad. Are we planning on testing/purging the detector throughout the SAD? If so, I'll need to order more but am hesitant to if the mix is going to change.
Regards,
Morgan

Hi Gabriel,
When the gas mixture if finalized, we can order more mixed gas.
* K bottles of 80He/20CO2
* Linde quote $560 each, 21 day lead time
* 220 Cubic feet = 220 * 28.31 = 6228 liters
* detector flow of 15 lph
* 6228L/15L/hrs = 415 hrs = 17 days
So we will estimate 2 bottles per month and order 4 bottles to start the experiment. As we use the gas, we will order more bottles.

Hi Bob,
I got your message after I replied. Thank you for the new bottle.
That raises the question of the cost of the bottles by the way. As far I understand, for now, we are using bottles used for BONuS12 experiment.
What will happen when new bottles will be required?
Have a nice day,

Hi Denny,
Please install a full K bottle of 80% Helium / 20% CO2 in the clean room. Turn on the bottle when finished so ALERT can continue their testing.
Thanks,
