Hi Amrit,
Today we tested the functionality of the new LTCC gas controls software. This entails ensuring communication with the MFCs and pressure transducers. As well as testing the function of the relays, which are used control the return pumps.
So far, the valve panel and piping back to the Gas Shed has been purged with N2. Early, next week, N2 purging will be completed and sector 5 will be pressurized with N2. At that time we will begin testing the pressure controls on S5.
In addition to testing and on going documentation of the controls system, DSG is researching a suitable O2 sensor for the system. This will help determine when the gas needs to be distilled, per the discussion from last weeks DSG status meeting.
We discussed the need for detecting the O2 levels in the returned C4F10 with Hall B Engineering, and the possibility of using the same sensor type used in the DC. However, the O2 sensors used in the DC are not appropriate, due to the need for a parallel piping circuit to supply the sensor with gas after it has returned from the hall. We are looking for a sensor which can "T" mount into the current piping system.
The Easidew moisture transducer is scheduled to arrive by the end of the month. At that point it will be installed into the system.
Finally, the distillation unit is being prepared for use. It will not be used until it has been through Pressure Systems/DA requirements and testing. This may be completed in the first half of the year.
Below is the Hall B schedule for the LTCC/C4F10.
Thanks,
Marc
