[Dsg-hallb_magnets] request to stop Torus LV cRIO for debugging on morning of 2016-01-04

Hello Dave,

There does not appear to be any overlap in the sensors you listed for the cryo control loop and the instrumentation list for sensors in the LV Chassis. The cryogenic flows should not be impacted.

The debug of the Torus LV cRIO code should take a few hours and can start at 3:30PM today. I will post the status of the debugging in the HBTORUS logbook.

The current, working code that is presently running on the cRIO will be redeployed at the end of the day if the solution to the nonsense Load Cell values is not found by then.

Best regards,
Tyler

Tyler,
I mis-understood your previous message.
"Can the Torus LV cRIO be taken offline tomorrow morning for a few hours to debug bad Load Cell readings?"

I thought we currently are having bad readings not that all load cells read erroneously at the time you showed in your plots which then recovered. (software/cRIO...)

Cryo control input parameters are presently limited to:

Nitrogen Liquid level in the TST. LL8152CP and TP8151

Flow through the helium circuit. FI8561 and LL8554CP

We are also controling some DBX functions on
PT8554
LL8554CP
PT8565

Thanks
Dave

Hello Dave,

All Load Cells were reading improperly after the last attempted update. Attached are EPICS Archive plots from November 11, 2016 showing the Load Cell values jumping to over 2x10^6 lbs.

The LV cRIO also reads Cernox sensor and PT100 data. Looking at the EPICS Archive plots for the same time as the attached plots, all other sensors in the LV Chassis were not affected. However, there is a chance that the signals from the other sensors may be briefly interrupted while debugging code is deployed to the cRIO. Would you know what temperature sensors are used for the cryogenic flow control loops?

Best regards,
Tyler

Hi Tyler,
Which load cells are reading improperly?
I looked through them this moring and time histories over the last 5 weeks and see nothing wrong.
I don't have a problem with you taking down the system as long as the cryogenic flows are not impacted.
None of the control loops use any force or strain readings.

Dave

Hello Dave Kashy,

Can the Torus LV cRIO be taken offline tomorrow morning for a few hours to debug bad Load Cell readings?

The debugging would be to find the cause of the bad Load Cell Values that occurred after Brian Eng made changes to the LV cRIO in November 2016 (HBTORUS Logbook entry #3438123).

Today, at about 2:00PM, Ruben gave his okay and requested you to also approve the cRIO downtime. Please let me know if there are any tests occurring tomorrow morning where the Torus LV cRIO should not be stopped.

Best regards,
Tyler

Hi Tyler,

Yes - most probably but please check with Dave Kashy first.

Hello Ruben,

In November, Brian made changes to the Torus LV cRIO that had to be rolled back because of issues with nonsense Load Cell readings. These issues were noted in HBTORUS Logbook entry # 3438123.

Can the Torus LV cRIO be taken offline this afternoon for a few hours to debug the bad Load Cell readings?

Best regards,
Tyler
