Hi Amrit,

Pablo informed us that he, Brian, and the magnet group reconfigured the quench detection interlocks to use PLC as the primary interlock source and quench detection unit as the secondary interlock source. The PLC was chosen as the primary interlock because they are able to add a trip delay to the PLC logic but not to the hardwired quench detection units. The thought in doing this was to prevent an occasion like yesterday where there was a voltage spike over a few microseconds that caused the fast dump. Changing the interlock logic required adding a new routine to the PLC. The magnet was ramped up again this afternoon, but dumped at 1038 A due to another voltage spike. Pablo, Brian, and the magnet group are still analyzing the fast DAq data to determine the source of the voltage spike.

Regards,
Amanda
