Yes - please open out the holes (can this be done without risk of damaging the components on the back of the board?) 

And yes - please order more pots.

As indicated by the render the new pots will physically fit, but since the adjustment screw location moved it doesn't line up with the hole anymore. They're also close to touching the plate as they're much taller. 

The attached picture is looking down on QD#1 which has the new pots. I was hoping there would be enough space to allow for adjustment with no modifications, but that isn't the case with the offset and height difference. 

So for the larger pots to be usable we'd need to expand all the holes in the plate to get access to the screws.

Let me know how you'd like to proceed. Namely, do I get the plate machined and order more pots?

If Probir really wants the higher turn pots we're going to need to get a bigger one. 

The ones currently installed are 1/4" and as you found are limited to ~12 turns. The 25 turn ones (even from different manufacturers) are 3/8". 

They do have the same lead spacing, so they can be installed, but the holes in the front of the QD panel for adjustments won't line up as well anymore. 

I made a render with the 2 different pots installed in the same location. There's (just barely) physically enough room on the PCB for the larger pots.
