We just discussed this at the engineering meeting. The plan outlined by your point 3 is the way to go. You can do all the preparation for turn on work starting July 13 and leave the last step of ramping magnets up until the beamline work is complete. We don't see any interference with other work in the hall. Important thing is maintain social distancing at all times and coordinated your work with Denny. Also keep track of you work in the logbook.

Magnet Team, as I see from my perspective, 27th (Monday) is the Physics start date. As Eugene suggesting that next Friday (17th) to start.

I have a thoughts with that (great if all goes well),

  1.  Start on 17th (Friday) means we will finish up on 23rd (Thursday) - 17, 20, 21, 22, 23 (5 days as scheduled) -  this leaves us with 1 day float (24th  Friday).
  2.  If we have trouble, there will be no flexibility (except working over the weekends, hope no hardware issues pops-up, worst case).
  3.  Therefore was suggested earlier to start on 13th and get prepared. This will leave the magnet to be energized for  a later date (thinking at least both magnets at full field for at least a day before physics start, Denny can do that and expect some one to be at site to switch-on the MPS and the magnets reaches full field).
  4.  The point 3 is important as i see, because HALL is also expected to be at full field and cryo cross-talk may interfere and run the magnets down or trip. This we want to mitigate earlier than 27th and keep physics running.
Eugene, Denny, Bob - Please think and suggest a date that will accommodate all. This is Physics call.

Current schedule has the start of physics beam delivery July27. We don't know whether it happens or not but we need to be ready and working under this assumption.

We have some flexibility but just don't want to wait until the last day so that in case something  does not come back  as expected after being down for four months we will have time to fix it. Most of the major restoration and check out work in the hall other than superconducting magnets is expected to be finished next week. Having said that this is for the magnet group to decide whether you want to start next Friday or sooner. We certainly will let you know if something changes.

what is the schedule being driven by?

is there a specific start date?

probir mentions that he needs 5 days.

isn't it possible to have days when there is not much other work being done?

Let me explain. The first level of the space frame will be occupied with installation work. You won't be able to do anything on the first level (work on the solenoid power supply) and won't be able to turn magnets on. However this does not prevent you from doing work on the second and third level if you want to start sooner.

    I hope you are doing well.  I just updated the schedule on our restoration document and have magnet testing slated between the 17th and 22nd.  Detector goes up on the beamline this Friday and the Bonus group will need some time for hookup and testing. Survey of the detector to the beamline is currently set for the 15-16th.  Hope that works for ya.
