tyler,
thank you very much for letting everyone know about the magnet work in which dsg is participating.
talk about transparency, i did not know work on this had started.

i elicit you gleaned this information from brian's weekly report.
i appreciate that you did not try to save cyber-ink or were too busy to communicate with others (and me in particular) the status of the project.

ability to be transparent and communicate is a talent, which everyone believes they have.
like tyle, please take a few minutes from your very busy schedule and use the mailing list to keep everyone posted (in the loop)

Subject: [Dsg-hallb_magnets] FYI: DSG progress on direct PLC to Cryocon communication

Hello,

To keep the mailing list informed, Brian has been looking into Cryo's PLC code distributed by Nick for communicating directly to PLCs with Cryo-con units.

So far, he's been able to set up and test 2 versions of direct communication: the version from Cryo and a version using Allen-Bradley Add-On-Instruction (AOI) for Modbus.

Findings so far are that:

  * the Cryo version is more involved to get set up and is slower in communication than the delays set in the routine.
  * The AOI is quick to set up, but does a lot of extra things that are not wanted or needed.

Best regards,
Tyler
