I have been working with Brian on this and have not seen the same scaling with timing on my test setup, but we are running different processors and different firmware versions, and the networking is different as well.

I suggest we test in the hall to confirm how the implementations differ before deciding. We can easily add a temporary Cryocon once the hall opens up to prevent any disruptions before committing to a change.</div>

To keep the mailing list informed, Brian has been looking into Cryo's PLC code distributed by Nick for communicating directly to PLCs with Cryo-con units.</div>

So far, he's been able to set up and test 2 versions of direct communication: the version from Cryo and a version using Allen-Bradley Add-On-Instruction (AOI) for Modbus.</div>

Findings so far are that:</div>

<li>the Cryo version is more involved to get set up and is slower in communication than the delays set in the routine.</li><li>The AOI is quick to set up, but does a lot of extra things that are not wanted or needed.</li></ul>
