Hi Maxime,

I have plugged in the 2 heater tapes, one for the MFC mounting plate
and the second for the C4H10 supply tubing connected to the MFCs.
The quad mounted above the MVT rack is powered by the thermostat,
which I have set to 70F.

The isobutane tank pressure is up to 42 psi now.

The CF4 cylinder is in the EEL gas cage. CF4 is a liquid, so, this
cylinder is heavy, ~200 lbs. Too heavy for me.

FYI, this will be the first test run of the mixing system. It may
require some debugging.

Thanks,
George

Dear all,

Leaving the counting house around 9pm, I saw that an additional
plug was installed for the thermostat keeping the flowmeters at
good temperature. Thank you very much! I ll be able to test the
mixing system correctly tomorrow so that we will be ready when
we get beam.

George, thank you for installing the thermostat. Now that it
can be powered up, can you finish the installation tomorrow
morning? So that in the middle of the morning, I switch to the
mixing system (I kept premix tonight because I wanted to study
different DAQ stuff being 100% I have clean gas).

I do not really know who should do it, but I would be very
grateful if the CF4 bottle could be brought to the Hall B gas shed
and connected to pipes feeding the mixing system.

Again thank you everyone!

Kind regards,

Hi Maxime,

The isobutane blanket is now working and the pressure in the
tank is up to 30 psi. You can begin mixing the 10% C4H10 in
argon mix. We need to disconnect the pre-mix and check the
valves are properly lined up.

The CF4 is still in the bldg 90 gas cage along with the
remaining pre-mix.

I mounted the thermostat sensor bulb to the MFC mounting
plate. Ready for power on it. I replaced the insulation as
well as I was able. The current ambient temp is mild and each
MFC makes ~ 12watts of heat from the solenoid control valve,
so this is good to go. Once the thermostat is powered up, it
will be ready for the cold temps on the way.

Please take care manipulating the insulation behind the rack
so you do not damage the thermostat bulb. This is mounted on
the left side.

Thanks,

Hi Jason

Thank you very much. This morning, George was working on it
and I hope the blanket is just slow to warm up and not
failing.
George would like to have a thermostat installed to make sure
heat tapes will not overheat the flowmeters and consequently
break them. I agree that it would be safer since we are kind
of blind in regulating the power of the heat tape.

Volker, Walt, would it be possible to have it done as soon as
possible? If everything goes well for the accelerator,
tomorrow evening we have beam sent in the Hall. But I cannot
use the mixing system yet. No real test have been done with
it. These tests include checks that the mixing system works
well, but also tuning the HV setting depending on the quality
of the mixture. (depend strongly on the mixture... this is
part of the "calibration" of micromegas detectors).

If we have everything we need to do the job, please try to
have it done today. I apologize for the rush but this mixing
system was supposed to be ready a long time ago and not the
day prior engineering run.

Thank you,
Kind regards,
