Hello James and Xiangdong,
Yesterday, I went ahead and checked the connections for the NI-DAQ-USB-6001 module DI channels prior to consider your suggested Datexel Modbus DAQ modules and found that the power supply inside the EV Aux Box that provides the +5VDC to NI-DAQ-6001 module DI channels was not connected. I proceeded and installed a power cable to the power supply and also wired the +5VDC to the NI-DAQ-6001 module. All work was performed with no power.
Tsuneo and I tested the control and position readback of EV1, EV2 valves using LabVIEW PRad program, and noticed no issues. You might want to test the status readback for the Gate Valve and Vacuum Switch later when running the system. Fixing the readout issues of the NI-DAQ-6001 module DI channels was the quickest solution to have the target controls running.
Currently, the +5VDC power supply is connected to a temporary power extension but I suggest installing another power strips in the rack since there are no available outlets on the existing ones.
The estimated arrival time for the ordered NI-DAQ-USB-6421 module is around August 11th.
Regards,
Pablo

Hi All,
My apologies I intended to send an email out yesterday. From my perspective the schedule for PRad is slipping and there remains a lot of work to do. Many of the jobs scheduled cannot be performed in parallel. I'm happy to help with PRad but I have other priorities that need attention so my time will be limited.
I told Tsuneo his suspicion about the target window is worth checking. This would explain the cell pressure issue. Another thing to check is the integrity of EV1 and EV2, just to verify they seal completely.
Denny, let me know when you're planning on pulling the target and I can meet you there to help and inspect the target cell.
Pablo, I found two Datexel Modbus Daq modules that should cover everything that needs to be read out for PRad II. It might be faster to use these we have onhand. Chris Carlin may have a quick solution or daq from NI that could work as well. The bottom line is the target controls needs to be sorted out asap. Here are the link to the datasheets.

Next week I will be out Monday and Tuesday, August 4th & 5th .

Hi James,
Tsuneo told me that you were thinking to open the PRad-II target to inspect target cell windows and the gas feed line to find out why the cell pressure is low.
Before knowing you were going to open the PRad-II target, I had asked Denny to help me lifting the target with the chain hoist nearby. He checked the area and said OK to help. Could you coordinate with him with a lifting plan (that's Hall-B work area)?
Phillip will work with you on the PRad-II target.
I'm travelling (on vacation) between 8/3 and 8/10, so I won't be able to work on the PRad-II target in the next two weeks (I also need to prepare the fusion poster and rehearsals for the DOE head and governor's visit during and after vacation.
What was conclusion of meeting with Pablo? Have you discussed the LabView features you think should be added on (or remove)?
I'll check my email every night while on vacation.
Thanks,
Xiangdong

My email did not refresh soon enough (until I was in ESB). I might not be able to join this afternoon.

Hi James and Pablo,
I'm tied up with preparing a poster for the DOE secretary's visit today but will stop by the ESB for a short time around 10.

Hi Pablo,
I would like meet you in the ESB at 10 and quickly go over the problem(s). Once I'm more familiar with the issue(s), together we may be able to work out an easy solution today.
Thanks,
James

Hello James,
The AIO com error indicator that you show in the attached screenshot is assigned to check the comms with the 6001 USB-DAQ device which is used to read analog and digital signals, we are aware that the 6001 module has issues with its DI channels, as you will notice the EV1 and EV2 indicators do not change to open even when we checked that the valves are physically opened. Also, the vacuum switch or turbo pump enable status don't work, only the AI channels to read the pressure for the Bottle and Cell/Chamber are working.
We agreed to replace the 6001-USB-DAQ module by a newer version NI USB-6421with more AI channels to read the turbo pumps' speeds. The replacement 6421module was ordered but not received yet.
If you want to meet, I will be available tomorrow around 10:00.
Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,
I tried to help Wei with the PRad II ESB Tests but was unable to do so. The LabVIEW vi you wrote for PRad II is having communication errors causing it to stop working. The COM ERROR labeled as AIO repeatedly and randomly presents an error. I'm not sure if it's an issue is with address ports assigned to the USB to RS232 box or some latency com issues with AIO but it needs to be addressed and corrected. The PRad test needs to be concluded for other modification to take place and time is running out. I can meet you out there to perform a quick room temp flow measurement using your program so we can identify the problem and fix it. When are you avaiable?
