Hi Pablo,

Can we meet in the ESB at 9am? I have a weekly PRad2 meeting at 10am, and another one until 3:15pm. I will be free after that.

Thanks,

Xiangdong

Hello Xiangdong,

Yes, we can get a DAQ module with more AI channels and replace the existing one.
I have a meeting at 11:00 am we can meet around 10 or after lunch to go over more details.

Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo,

Thank you very much for adding the turbo info to the PRad-II data stream, I really appreciate it. A total of 5 turbo pumps and a roots pump (Pfeiffer H803) will be monitored, if possible. Could we add more DAQ board to solve the port congestion issue? The cold Cathell gauge on the chamber should also be monitored.

We tested the new Labview Control Program and are happy with it. THANK YOU.

The PRad-II target is warming up now and will stay warm for the next few days.

There are a few things in the labview program need to be tweaked if you have time. We can explain to you for that.

We can meet in the ESB at 11am tomorrow, if you want.

Thanks,

Xiangdong

Hello Xiangdong,

As we discussed, I started looking into the monitoring of the turbo pumps in LabVIEW.

From the available information and specifications from Pfeiffer, it seems like we might not be able to connect DUC 002 (vacuum display and control unit panel) and the PC simultaneously the via the available RS485 serial connectors with the TC1200 electronic drive unit in the turbo pump.
There is another Remote connector on the TC1200 electronic drive unit which shows some pins that can be used for RS485, but the information on the manual is not clear, so I will email Pfeiffer to confirm this.

We have another option to read only one analog output signal from the TC 1200, but it will require to use the existing NI-6001 DAQ AI channels. The NI-6001 DAQ offers 4 AI channels in differential mode or 8 AI channels in single-ended mode; currently there are 2 AI channels in differential mode used for the pressure transducers, which leave us with 2 AI channels available in differential mode. Since you mentioned that at least the turbo pump speed needs to be monitored, we would need 4 AI channels (Assuming only 4 turbo pumps), as you can see, going with this option will involve getting another DAQ module or change the remain AI channels configurations to single-ended mode. Differential mode is usually recommended for noisy environments.

Are there any other signals that you want to monitor for the turbo pumps?

Regards,
Pablo
