Hello Walt,<br>
I'm presently on site and available to look at what has remained in
the FT area after the detector was moved to the hall. At that time,
most of the FT spares were moved to storage and the only FT related
equipment that was left in the area was placed on one shelf at the
back of the room. This is a quite limited amount of material and
can be easily removed.<br>
Best regards,<br>

Morning:
<br>
<br>
Based on earlier e-mail traffic and my discussions with Yuri
<br>
this morning, it appears that Marco and Yuri have come to
<br>
a resolution on the use of the space inside the cleanroom
<br>
that is consistent with the new schedule...
<br>
<br>
That's good.
<br>
<br>
Naturally, we still need to address the issues in the surrounding
<br>
area that seems to have contributed to this problem. Amrit and
<br>
I walked through the space this morning and surveyed the
<br>
remaining materials (I've attached a photograph). It appears that
<br>
when the work on the Forward Tracker was completed and the
<br>
assembly was installed, a significant amount of equipment and
<br>
infrastructure was abandoned in place.
<br>
<br>
I certainly can understand this, as schedule pressures tend to
<br>
force people to move quickly between tasks. Still, we eventually
<br>
must clear the space for other uses. To that end, I've discussed
<br>
the materials that are there with Facilities and Physics staff and
<br>
propose the following steps.
<br>
<br>
1) DSG will provide technical staff to look through the remaining
<br>
electronics, modules and components that are there and package
<br>
them for storage. Much of the components will be stored in the
<br>
DSG storage area on the EEL mezzanine or in the DSG cabinets.
<br>
<br>
2) I will submit a material storage request to Facilities to
collect and
<br>
store the work benches and electronics enclosures that are in the
<br>
area for future use.
<br>
<br>
3) I will submit a excess request to have the vast array of chairs
that
<br>
are in the area returned to Facilities for future use.
<br>
<br>
4) I will ask Stepan to send representatives from the Forward
Tracker
<br>
group to collect and remove any remaining equipment associated
with
<br>
the project.
<br>
<br>
5) Everything in the area after this will be excessed or disposed
of
<br>
and we'll schedule a sweep and mop by janitorial services.
<br>
<br>
After this is complete the space will be available for reuse,
either by
<br>
the SVT installation or whatever future projects are in the pipe.
<br>
<br>
Naturally, I'll need to touch base with Stepan and Patrizia before
we
<br>
proceed, but I should be able to provide a final decision by the
end of
<br>
the day.
<br>
<br>
As always, its a pleasure doing business with you...
<br>
<br>
