Hello,

After calling Newport to ask for recommendations on what
can be done to fix the monochromator, they recommended to
check whether the diffraction grating had turned too far,
going past its home location causing an error condition.

Page 6 of the attached pdf describes the procedure they
gave to recover from the error condition.

With the monochromator powered off, Luca and I manually
turned the diffraction grating using the drive gear. We
then powered on the monochromator and it was able to
verify its home position and be operated as normal.

The monochromator is now working again and can be used as
before for reflectivity tests.

Best regards,
Tyler

marco,

i do hope they can.

it would be wonderful

maybe nick has a spare monochromator

but from past experience, i would say its wishful
thinking.

last time peter had to fix the problem.

maybe, tonight i should give the monochromator a
couple of whacks!

remember murphy's law "If it jams - force it. If it
breaks, it needed replacing anyway."!!!

Hi Tyler,
You could contact Yuri or Nick first, perhaps it is a
known problem and
they know how to solve it.
