Hi Carlos,

I would use the following procedure to start up the gas system;

1st - Verify all gas system components, gas lines, RTPC detector and DMS volume are connected as shown in the gas sytem P&I diagram.

2nd - Verify proper valve lineup for start up in the following order;
1) Close or check closed MV1, MV2, MV4, MV6, MV9, and MV10
2) Open or check open MV3, MV5, MV7, and MV8
3) Close the flow meter valve on FM1
4) Open the gas cyclinder valves and set the pressure regulators to 15 psi
5) Open MV1, MV2, MV9, and MV10

3rd - Set the flows on MFC1 and FM1

4rth - Purge the detector and DMS volumes at 100 sccm to 250sccm for ~90 min before turning on the HV

5th - Once the purge is complete, reduce the detector and DMS flows for data taking

This should be a good start. I will review the paper and get back to you ASAP.

Cheers,
George

Subject: Gas panel note

Hi George,

here is attached a draft of the note. Please, take a look and tell me any errors or misconceptions I wrote.

There is something I need. You told me the valves which are normally open or closed. But, since I have in mind something from scratch and specially you clarified me the pressurized system concept, I would like to know the steps (valves to open and similar stuff) in order to supply gas the first time.

For instance:
-have all the NORMALLY OPEN valves open and then open the gas regulator in the shed?
-open the regulator in the shed and then open MV7 (and MV8) and the rest of then according to our configuration?

In case of bypassing the DMS, should we close the gas in the shed, or just open and closing valves is enough?

I mean, what goes first or what should be open first and what final.

What is in the PDF about the use of the gas panel is something I wrote before I talked to you, so please do not pay attention to it.

Thank you

-Carlos
