Dear all,
I just switched the RTPC drift gas supply bottle (He/CO2) from the most recent one to a brand new one sitting on the gas pad. Please exchange the empty bottle for a new one.
Thank you - Sebastian

The following is the ordering info for the specialty gas mixture. The Praxair part number for the special gas mixture, 20% CO2 in Helium, is HE CD20C-K. The most recent quote was $330 per cylinder with a 4-6 week lead time.
Thank you
George

Dear George,
it’s been awhile since we checked on our RTPC drift gas supply, but today we noticed that the 2 bottles that are connected at the gas pad are both showing very low pressure (about 350 psi out of 2000 for a fresh bottle - not sure whether that is real, but it certainly is a concern - note that we only hooked up our RTPC in the Hall today, so I’m not sure why those bottles appear nearly empty). I found 4 more gas bottles of the same type stored next to the Hall B gas shed, which should account for the total of 6. Those should tide us over the first few weeks of the run. I believe there may be one or 2 gas bottles left in the EEL that are at most partially used. However, to avoid running out during the experiment and because of the lead time, I would like to request that we order 4 more of the same 80%/20% He/CO2 premix and store them next to the gas shed. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
Thanks - Sebastian

Hi Carlos,
There are currently 5 full cylinders of pre-mix gas in the EEL gas cage. The last order of 4 cylinders arrived last month. These cylinders were for testing the actual detector in the EEL.
I can order more cylinders for delivery to 96B, if that is what you need. There is a 4-6 week lead time for delivery of this pre-mix gas. Does your estimate of 4 cylinders for the run take into acccount any contingency? Additional gas may be required in the case of an accidental loss of gas for some reason such as a leak or an improper gas supply configuration. I would recommend ordering at least 6 cylinders if you estimate the need at 4, with a contingency of at least 2 cylinders just in case. The lead time of 4-6 weeks eliminates the option of ordering more during the run.
Cheers,
George

George,
may you give us the status of the He/CO2 order?
Thank you

Hi Carlos,
Please send an update when the He/CO2 order is confirmed and you have a delivery date.
I will check the He4 inventory in Hall B.
Regards,
Bob

Hi Bob,
in principle, the 4 bottles of He/CO2 were in the list to buy them soon, and I believe they are already ordered because the delivery time was quite long. He4 not quite sure if was intended to buy it exclusively for BONuS or use the present in the hall.
Cheers
-Carlos

Hi Sebastian,
Based on the Bonus flow requirement of 1 gas exchange per hour, the experiment will need 4 bottles of He4/CO2 (K bottles, 2000 psi). The experiment will also need 1 bottle of He4.
Has this gas been ordered?
Thanks,
